Our Logo

There are two main elements consisted in our logo, circles and squares, are united in and to form a spiral. In the ancient Far East culture, the circle stands for the heaven, the spiritual world, there is no beginning or ending. The square stands for the earth. Its four corners indicate our four seasons as well as the four cardinal points. The connection of the circle and the square represent the entire universe. Heaven and earth alternate in the spiral and thus stand for eternity and truth. By combining these opposites, the universe harmonizes as one. We bring this philosophy to live at the Laupheimer Hof Hotel & Restaurant – feel heavenly grounded.

Inviting people to take a time out

Thomas Rössler focuses on positive energy with the concept behind the Laupheimer Hof

To become a chef one day – a simple goal was always flashed in a little boy’s mind since he was 10, Thomas Rößler, the owner of the Laupheimer Hof.

He was an executive chef of a 5-Star international chained hotel, ever since then, in 1996, he focused on his further achievement, to be the founder of Laupheimer Hof. Over 15 years running his business, he decided to receive a new challenge. After a long struggle with the processing and a new concept of simple elegant raised up, he has accomplished the extension to a 4-Star property in 2019.
Mr. Rößler, you’ve reached another milestone—where do you go from here?

I’ve achieved my goal when a guest leaves and feels that their time with us has been good for them in every way. That’s how it should be—we want our offerings to be a source of benefit for others. That’s my most important goal. Our hotel is a business hotel—with all the comforts and services expected of us. At the same time, the Laupheimer Hof offers great recreational value and invites people to take a break. Spending a weekend in a beautiful hotel, enjoying good food, slowing down, and recharging—that is the Laupheimer Hof aswell. And that’s what we want to convey to our guests through our offerings.

How do you put that into practice at the Laupheimer Hof?

For the new building, we specifically focused on quality, natural elegance, and an inviting atmosphere. The overall concept is designed to make people feel good. Everything is designed to be very inviting—the day bar and lounge area, the sheltered courtyard, and the spacious, beautiful rooms. And for business guests who are planning a longer stay, we’ve furnished our spacious apartments with built-in kitchens and dining areas. But for me, in addition to the attractive rooms and our wellness area, this also includes providing guests with personal and warm service.

That’s what your Operations Manager, Christian Schnell, says too—do you always see eye to eye?

(laughs) Oh no, to be honest, we don’t. We often have intense discussions about certain topics. But that’s what makes working together exciting, and it usually leads to really good results!

Where does the Asian influence in your restaurant come from?

I lived and worked in Hong Kong for four years and got to know the culture there. That’s reflected in the decor and the names of the rooms. And above all, I’m fascinated by Far Eastern spices, and I love using them in my cooking.

What sets the cuisine at Laupheimer Hof apart?

Appreciation. Everything here is made from scratch. I place great importance on healthy and fresh cuisine. To that end, we consciously buy regional products and completely avoid meat from factory farms. These products are the key to my approach to cooking. You don’t need unusual ingredients or oysters and caviar for a memorable dining experience. Honest and authentic cuisine made from high-quality ingredients is close to my heart. That’s why we also dry-age our meat ourselves.

Do you still enjoy cooking?

Yes, cooking is just fun—it’s where I get to be creative, and something completely new comes out of it. I’d also like to have more time for cooking classes again—right now, I only offer them upon request. But teaching cooking classes or doing demonstration cooking—that’s what I’m truly passionate about.

Showing appreciation—does that apply to your employees as well?

Recognizing my employees is very important to me. In our industry, it’s hard to pay wages that reflect performance—that’s my stated goal. I want every employee to be able to contribute and to view the business as their own. Everyone should find their own motivation, and I value that kind of commitment. That also includes treating each other fairly. Sustainability and warmth—not just toward our guests.
